Fullscreen countdown timer
One clock for the whole room.
Pick a time, press F, and the whole screen becomes the countdown — no buttons, no sign-up, nothing to click away. Or flip it to count up from zero.
- Fullscreen
- No account
- Count up or down
Three steps to a timer nobody has to ask about
-
01
Choose a time
Hit 1, 3, 5, 10 or 25 minutes, or type anything else —
90s,12m,1h30and12:30all work. The label under the clock can say what the block is for. -
02
Press F
The timer takes over the screen: no browser chrome, no buttons, nothing but the clock. That is the part you put on the projector, the lecture hall display or the TV in the kitchen.
-
03
Let it run
Space pauses, R resets, M mutes,
+and−move the finish line, L repeats the block. At zero the scene settles and a chime plays, then the readout counts up in+mm:ssso you can see how far over you are. Prefer counting up from zero? Switch to Count up above the controls.
Built for a screen other people are looking at
Most timers are a widget inside another page. This one is meant to be the page.
Fullscreen that means it
One keystroke and every control disappears. Nothing to click away, nothing that pops up over the countdown.
A chime you can hear across the room
Each skin is synthesized in the browser, so there is no audio file to fail loading. M mutes it, and the setting sticks.
Keyboard-first
Space to start and pause, F for fullscreen, R to reset, M to mute, + and − to give or take a minute, L to repeat. Once a timer is running you never need the mouse.
Counts down or up
Countdown for the block you planned; count-up for the one you didn't. Same skins, same fullscreen, same keys — the mode is one toggle above the controls, and the share link remembers it.
The display stays awake
While a timer runs, timer.cool asks for a wake lock, so the screen does not dim halfway through a long block.
Nine skins, one clock
Brass hourglass, green terminal, a sinking sun, pastel cutie, a rocket for kids, candlelight for the family, a draining aquarium, a lit pumpkin — and a real clock face for when the room just needs the time. The skin changes the mood, never the behaviour.
Where a projected countdown earns its keep
Classrooms
A quiz, a silent reading slot, a group activity. Project it and the clock is the only thing on screen, so nobody asks how long is left.
Talks and workshops
Ten minutes of Q&A, a five-minute demo, a twenty-five-minute exercise — set it, fullscreen it, and stop watching the clock yourself.
Focus sessions
The 25 preset plus a label is a pomodoro. Bookmark the link and the session starts at 25:00 every time.
Cooking
Eight minutes for pasta, ninety for a roast, twelve for the rice. The chime carries further than a phone speaker.
Workouts and intervals
Forty-five seconds on, fifteen off. Type the number, run it fullscreen, hit R to repeat.
Meetings
Standup, demo slot, parking lot. Everyone in the room sees the same number, which ends the "we have five minutes" debate.

Questions
Is timer.cool really free?
Yes. There is no account and no paywall. Open the page, choose a duration and press Start.
How do I use the timer on a projector?
Connect the projector or TV, open timer.cool, then press F or the fullscreen button. On a second monitor, move the browser window to that display first. On iPhone, where browsers cannot fullscreen an element, the timer expands to fill the screen instead — tap the close button or press F again to leave.
Can I set a custom duration?
Yes. Type 1:30, 90s, 12m or 1h30 into the duration box. It applies when you leave the box or press Start.
Does the timer also count up?
Yes. Switch to Count up — the toggle above the controls — and the clock counts up from zero instead of down, with the same skins, fullscreen and pause. R restarts it from 0:00, and the share link carries the mode with ?mode=up.
What happens when the timer reaches zero?
The scene settles and a chime plays. The readout then counts up as +mm:ss so you can see how far past the end you are. Press Reset, or the Flip button, to start again.
Will the screen turn off during a long timer?
timer.cool asks the browser for a wake lock while a timer is running, so the display normally stays awake. Battery-saver settings on some devices can still override it.
Can I send someone a specific timer?
Yes. Share copies a link that carries the duration and label, so a 45-minute workshop timer opens with the right time already set.
Does the sound work with the iPhone mute switch on?
No. iOS silences web audio when the ringer switch is set to silent, so flip the switch on, or use another device for the chime.
Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. The countdown is measured against the clock instead of counting tick by tick, so it stays accurate while the tab is in the background — come back and it has caught up to the right number.
Can I add time while the timer is running?
Yes. The +1m and −1m buttons — or the + and − keys — move the finish line without stopping the clock, for a talk that runs over or a break that deserves to. Take enough minutes back and the timer finishes on the spot.
How does Repeat work?
Turn on Repeat — the button next to Reset, or the L key — and the timer flips over and starts again by itself each time it reaches zero. Handy for workout intervals and classroom rotations. The share link can carry the setting with ?r=1.
Can I change the finish sound or add a last-seconds tick?
Yes. The bell button next to the mute control opens the chime panel: pick the finish sound or let it match the skin, set the volume, and switch on a soft tick for each of the last ten seconds.
